Alicia was only 8 when her parents sent her to work at her aunt's bar. Initially, she was the waiter of the bar but, later on, she started having sex with all the customers, as she was told by her aunt to do whatever they told her to. At a tender age of 8 when she didn't even know about sex, she was raped 10 times a day!
When a bar owner noticed Alicia, he immediately struck a deal with her parents. She gave 600 Euros to her parents and took Alicia along with her. She was ill-treated over there. She was raped by all the customers turn by turn.
When she got out of the bar in the morning, she would see all her rapists who would lick their lips on seeing her. She was molested by them in the morning and raped by them at night!
Mexico has become a hub for human trafficking. There is a proper market in Mexico where girls are sold for as low as 2 Euros to customers. There are no strict laws for this and people have accepted this over the years.
She got pregnant at the age of 13 when she didn't even have her first period! The world to her was only bars and sex. She continued working at the bar until she was 6 months pregnant. When she started growing her belly and her body changed, she was considered useless and was sent home to her parents. She delivered the boy without knowing the father. The father could have been anyone who raped her.
After delivering a boy, she was not allowed to live happily. She was again sold to a woman leader who advised the government. She was ill-treated over there too! She was often misbehaved with. She was once put in a tub full of cold water for five days. Over there, she was raped by her son many times. Moreover, he called over his friends to rape her who would do so turn by turn.
She tried to escape many times. Once she was escaping from torture when the security guards saw her on CCTV and caught her doing so. But once again when she was trying to escape, a kind-hearted guard Julio Cesar Robles helped her in doing so. On November 11, Margarita was convicted along with her son for 20 years in prison. This was the first time when a human trafficking incident was looked upon. This changed the mindset of people in Mexico.
Alicia has now changed her life completely. She now has a boyfriend in Julio, the same guard who helped her escape. She is now living her life happily but still has post-trauma issues. She gets scared of loud noises and a lot of people. She would get used to this change gradually over the years. But kudos to her for changing her life completely. She is an inspiration for many people in Mexico who are still sold at tender ages and become victims of human trafficking.
