We all know that Ikea is a trustable brand and it's comparatively much more affordable. Chris Heider needed something that would be easy on his pocket and serve for multi purposes. He could not afford high-end furniture.
So he decided to do something easy. He built a bed which also serves as storage space. And the best part, it's from Ikea kitchen furniture section. Look what he did.

Before starting anything, he read all the Ikea's catalogs carefully and formed out a plan according to his needs. To build this masterpiece, he needed to buy 7 cupboards and some extra material from Ikea. By making a plan, he knew exactly what he needed which made it easy for him. All of this cost him around $480.
He assembled all the cupboards the way he wanted them to be. He had already formed a plan in his mind. This made his job a lot simpler.
After arranging all the cupboards, he started placing them one by one in the shape of a bed. He did so because the upper part of these cupboards could serve as the bed and the cupboards could be used for storing as well.
For providing stability to his new bed, he added wooden clamps in between them. He even screwed them together from both the sides.
He added wooden beams onto the wall to complete the bed structure. Doing this made it, even more stable. He avoided labor charges and asked his daughter to help him.
To give it a real touch, Chris added wooden boards which helped in the storage units. The basic bed structure was now complete. All he had to do was to keep the mattress above it.
He even added lights inside the storage units to make them easily accessible. Or there would have always been a problem to use the storage space in the dark. He had thought of everything at the initial stage only!
He used his old mattress as it was in new condition and saved a lot more money by not buying a new one.
