Syria has so much to worry regarding violent civil wars, avoiding bombing campaigns organized by Western powers and dealing with ISIS. Now, the Syrians are worried about the flesh-eating parasites. As the country is ravaged and torn by the civil war, the spread of this parasite is, even more, devastating.
It's heartbreaking to see people suffer like that. It's high time proper medical facilities are made available in the country. The situation is already terrible and demands serious attention lest people suffer from a painful and slow death.
It is a protozoan that eats flesh.
Leishmaniasis is also spread by such flies. The dumping of dead bodies in the streets by the ISIS members is leading to even more numbers of flies.
But, five years of non-stop turmoil has led to Syria's healthcare system taking a toll.
Every year, between 20000-50000 people are killed by this protozoan.
