What do you want for Christmas? A tablet, a phone, some nice clothes? Well, for this 8-year-old girl who survived a deadly fire 2 years ago, in which she lost her dad and 3 siblings, all she wants for the holidays are Christmas cards to fill up her card tree. But maybe people can give her something better, since she will be having an operation again next year to keep her healthy.
Read down below to see what assistance people have given the sweet little girl.
This is Safyre Terry, an 8-year-old girl who simply wants to receive Christmas cards for the holidays.
In 2013, her house in New York was burned down due to arson. About 75 percent of body became severely burned.
Due to the fire that was caused by bad people at Schenectady, New York, Safyre Terry's father David Terry died as he became her human shield during the fire. Her three siblings also perished in the fire.
These are her siblings. Safyre's aunt takes care of her now, and her aunt requested help from others to help her have a merry Christmas. On Dec. 3, the aunt started asking people to send Christmas cards to Safyre so that she could put them on the tree.
Although the whole incident still remains unsolved, a man has already been convicted by a federal jury back in November for lying about the fire. Safyre has also already had at least 50 operations at such a young age.
On Jan. 5 next year, Safyre will be having another operation because a scar tissue keeps opening up near her mouth.
Because a friend wanted to help out, a campaign was organized through YouCaring Compassionate Crowdfunding so that the medical bills could be paid immediately to keep Safyre healthy and safe.
The $15,000 goal is nearing completion as people have already given about $13,700.
Safyre has been told that hundreds of people have promised to give her cards. She's already begun receiving a lot of them, thanks to kind strangers.
