It was a dark, moonless night. Very heavy rains were pouring down from the overcast sky. I was walking by, pulling my raincoat together . The wind was blowing away the quintessential papers I was holding in my hand. Suddenly the street lights went off and the umbrella blew away. I was starting to get drenched. There was water all over the place and I could hear muffled noises across the street....HELP! Hel.... he ...ha.... "Harry get up, you have to go and get your school grades today.", shouted mom.
Harry had a bad dream, but what was going to follow was worse. But he was ready with an excuse this time. Mom, "Even Einstein flunked!"
If you all had been in Harry's shoes once in your life using the same excuse; let me tell you pal, you were certainly wrong. For a spoiler alert, Einstien was not at all weak in studies.
Discover more about the above fact. Also, watch many other facts turn into Myths and get shattered into painstaking reality.
It is a well established myth that he was not good at maths. In fact there are evidences that Einstein was always good at maths. They also say that he had a very bad high school record, but there are no evidences likewise or otherwise. So we can be certain that it is just a myth.
There are more than 1,000 species of bats which can see. Though some bats use echo to locate food, find prey or sense danger, a technique known as 'echolocation', but some bats do have huge eyes and a sense of vision. Their vision is not as sharp as other nocturnal animals but its enough for them to do the aforementioned tasks. They can see, thus the idiom 'Blind as a Bat', is not as true as you think.
As destructive as any natural force is, lightning is yet another intriguing such phenomenon . As the old saying goes, 'Lightning never strikes at the same place twice', is true hypothetically; but if you ask a scientist, believe me it is as false as it can get. Lightning can strike twice at the same place as early as 10 minutes or as late as a few million years.
The theory that suggests, that evolution was from 'lower' to 'higher', or apes evolved as man is absolutely false. An ape is just our distant cousin and not our ancestor. Darwin's theory is true though, 'Survival of the Fittest'. The genes that do not promote survival are wiped out from the face of earth due to variation. There are species who have remained unchanged in million years like fungi, shark, mosses, etc.
Scientists keep telling us that we use only a very small part of our brain, 10%. If for some godforsaken reason it were true, then why in a serious head injury where some parts of the brain are damaged, does it happen that some functions of our body are hampered? Yes, we use all of our brain in all of our lifetime. Brain mapping, MRI Scans and conscience have confirmed the fact. The over exploitation of the fact was only meant to make people challenge themselves to be better.
You will never catch cold, going out in cold weather. Cough and cold are caused by viruses. And it's not an obligation that if you went out without a scarf and a sweater, you will catch cold. Believe me, viruses don't magically appear in the atmosphere. Cold is contagious and you will catch it surely if you come in contact with a person who is already suffering.
Who does not like chocolate, cakes, sugar candies? And when it comes to kids, there is no bigger fan! There happens to be a common myth that the children who eat lots of sugar, are hyperactive. Many studies, have proven this wrong. There is no relation whatsoever between a sugar candy and a child's comprehensive development. So dear parents, let them be. Having said that, there is no doubt that access of sugar can cause other health problems and thus it is important that we let them savor the taste of their favorite sugary food, in a limited fashion.
It is a very famous myth, if a food once dropped is scooped within five seconds, it is safe to eat. But that is not the case, as and when the food is dropped, a bacteria called salmonella instantly attaches itself to the food and makes it unsafe for consumption.
A penny dropped from Eiffel Tower, Empire States Building or any high building for that matter cannot kill people. This is because something like a penny which is not aerodynamically designed can probably attain the velocity required but can never attain a caliber to kill someone. Though, a penny won't kill but it will sting really bad, so you probably should not try it.
A myth, successfully established by sci-fi movies. A man does not explode when subjected to vacuum, if he exhaled before vacuum. Without no further oxygen intake (of course because vacuum has no oxygen), the man will die. But the fact remains, the cause of death will not be explosion. And that is certainly, why space suits are necessary.
