Otis Johnson was 25 years old when he went to prison for attempted murder. He spent 44 years in prison, and when he was finally let out into the world, he was 69 years of age. He had last seen the world in the 1970s, and now, after four decades of being away from the world, he says that the world has totally changed. Johnson likes to go to Times Square and observe people, and the latest things in the world.
Technology was at a different level back in the 70s. THe world has changed a lot in the last 40 years, and Johnson feels it the most.
Otis was 25 years old when he was sent to prison for attempted murder. On release, he was given just $40, his ID, and two bus tickets
Payphones are one of the few things that have made it to the present day. However, it costing one dollar rather than 25 cents and the extremely less frequency of its use did shock Otis.
Johnson found it weird that so many people had wires attached to their ears. Back in his days, only CIA agents used to do that!
Even the fact that there are electronic ads in windows in Times Square was new and surprising.
