Gossip Girl was a sensation of its time. It's exclusive locations, effective storyline and revelations always left the audience spellbound. Let me take you to a journey of these amazing star cast and satisfy your curiosity about if there is anything that these epic characters of gossip Girl have in common with the stars who portrayed them.
Feel the Magic again!
Blair Waldorf, 'Queen Bee' at the upper east side, ruled her world. She was the most beautiful girl with the aim of being the best at ever she does. She was competitive and always scheming. Her fierce nature, her habit of sabotaging her competition and her insecurities ruled her down. Behind the fanciful style and bitchy attitude, Blair was a great friend and very weak emotionally.
Leighton Meester, in real life is not very competitive and never judgmental. She is incredibly sweet and her real life has been very different then Blair's. She has had a troubled childhood, her mother gave birth to her when she was serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking. She proudly accepts that despite her parents criminal past, she has had a very normal childhood. She was brought up her grandmother and after a few years her parents became an inseparable part of her life. Leighton loved playing Blair because it felt like therapy. It was fun playing someone so different, speaking and doing thing things you would never do in your real life. She likes to wear sneakers, loose tees and no makeup at all, extremely no-no Blair style statement. Leighton is hardly a reflection of the scheming and selfish side of Blair, but convincingly the loving side of her.
Serena van der Woodsen, daughter of Lily and William van der Woodsen, is one of those characters who fits the Bad-girl-turns-good description. She is a girl, free as a bird. She is kind, caring and best friends with Blair. Everything she desires comes to her easy because of her good looks, her witty and charismatic personality. She sulks at her life as an elite in Manhattan's upper East side. She is often criticized for her relationships and not exploiting her capabilities to full potential.
Blake lively is a 'Foodie' as she calls herself. She admits that she dresses like Serena and her fashion sense is really intriguing. She is not as bad as Serena in making her relationship choices and is happily married to Ryan Reynolds.
Chuck Bass is portrayed as an antagonist in the initial Gossip Girl episodes. He is absolute spoiled brat and his only friends stay friends with him because of his wealth. He is only interested in sex and money and hooked up with many girls. His life and character changes vividly when he falls for Blair Waldorf. His passion and love dominates his dark character immensely.
Ed is way too different from what chuck bass is. He grew up in a middle class English family and has never experienced a life of an elite socialite of Manhattan, unless his role of C. Bass jr. unlike, chuck his only dark side is being aggressive when he wakes up from a nap. Also, unlike Chuck he loves his family and his values are deeply rooted to them.
Nate Archibald is a very different and emancipated character in Gossip Girl. He held no grudges against anyone and was a man who was always politically correct. He was optimistic and in the end wanted to make a political career. He had a very haphazard love life.
Chace was born in Texas to a dermatologist father and a teacher mother. His life in real in life is very different from the speedy and glamorous life of Manhattan. He is very 'Nate' when it comes to being caring and an optimistic person. Unlike Nate, he always knew what he had to do. He was always clear about his career goals.
Dan was a the only main character who was not from the upper East side. He lived in Brooklyn and was the son of Ruphus Humphrey. He was patient, witty, funny and very rational. His love interest was Serena Van der Woodsen since ninth grade. In the end it comes as a surprise that the 'Lonely Boy' aka Dan is the gossip Girl. He started writing Gossip Girl to muddle his way through the Upper East Side and be close to Serena.
Penn Badgley and Dan Humphrey are two ends that would never meet. Dan in the end of seasons, make his character look very negative, and Penn was very surprised by the ending.
Yet another teenager with a dream of becoming the queen. Jenny was the daughter of former musician Rufus Humphrey and Dan's sister. She loves her family and is very passionate about being a fashion designer. She leaves her house at Brooklyn to become the ultimate ruler of the Met Steps. On the road of being famous she does things which are unexpected of her behavior. Realizing what she is becoming, she moves to Hudson with her mother to become a better person.
The ultimate sensation of the rock band called The Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen is as dedicated to her passion just like Jenny Humphrey. The only passion to her is 'Music'. Taylor has been perusing acting professionally since the age of 2. She has achieved so much at the young age of 21.Her dedication is commendable.
