Kevin Elliott was great soldier and a loved man. He had a happy go lucky attitude and persona like him easily won millions of hearts. Loosing him, leaves a void in the hearts of loved ones and in their life.
A wife of a soldier, has to be braver than him. To let him be away for years and praying and begging God that he comes back safe. She won't cry, she is putting a brave face. But no one can probably decipher how she feels.
Elliot receives the burial he deserves. It's on the occasions like this that we realize how tough lives of these valiant soldiers is. We live safe only because they sacrifice their lives for us.
Kevin was a perfect son, a wonderful Husband, a loved brother and an awesome friend. Kevin like any other youngster loved watching movies, to hangout with friends and to be among the people he loves. Ask this to yourself, does anyone deserves to die that young? For all I know, army demands sacrifices and death is inevitable. I wish there were no wars.
Only those understand the loss of the loved one who have been there. The thought of not being able to talk to them ever again, not being able to be with them, to touch them, feel them or to just see them. It's not easy, it can never be. No one can ever make up for that loss.
Barry Delaney, Kevin's best friend loved him like a brother. They were best friends for years. Once while watching TV they made a pact, a fun pact. Perhaps Kevin was a little high that day, he was over thinking about his funeral and the idea was entirely his. He said when it will be his funeral, Barry will have to wear a women's dress, not just that, the brighter the better. The most hideous dress he could find, was the pact.
While the rituals were taking place, Barry was consoling his friend's grieving sister, his wife and grandmother. He won't cry, for he loved his friends memory. But just in the end his legs gave away and he bent down. On being asked he said, "I was asking Kevin, if he liked the dress."
Kevin, as happy as he was, never mentioned being afraid of wars. He would take life as it comes. But during a break when he was home, he mentioned about Afghanistan. He said he fails to comprehend the reason, why British were fighting them, he said they are deadly. A few horrendous incidents were crossing his minds. Kevin was never a guy who would back out, consequently he faced the war with all his strength.
Barry, brought Kevin's favorite drink with him. And just when they were about to part, he raised a last toast to his brave friend. Kevin will always live in our hearts.
