We are more than happy to announce that Laxmi is now a proud mother of a baby girl just as beautiful as she is.
Who is Laxmi? Well, the entire nation knows about the acid attack victim Laxmi, who is, a 26-year-old lady who survived a massive acid attack. Her face was disfigured beyond recognition, since then Laxmi goes by a single name. She has been an inspiration for a lot of acid attack victims now.
They are now blessed with a beautiful daughter named Pihu. Pihu is now seven months old healthy baby. It was Laxmi's and her partner Alok Dixit's decision of taking their own time before introducing little Pihu to the world.
Alok Dixit (28) is Laxmi's partner, they are not a married couple, as Alok does not believe in the institution of marriages and will continue being in a Live-in relationship with Laxmi. "Pihu does not have a surname, neither would she have one. We encountered a few problems while making the birth certificate, but ultimately it has the name of both the mother and father because both of us are together," says Laxmi.
Although it's been a tough journey for Laxmi, she has remained spirited and buoyant throughout, spreading hope and power to many of such victims. She was attacked by a 32-year-old man, whose demands were rejected by her when she was only 16. Because of Laxmi's efforts, the Supreme Court ordered the central and state government to regulate the sale of acid, to make it easily unavailable for the people. She was the strongest advocate for this act. It became easier for the Parliament to make prosecutions for acid attacks after her incident. For her incredible bravery, Laxmi received a 2014 International Women of Courage award by US First Lady Michelle Obama and was also chosen as the NDTV Indian of the Year.
During her pregnancy period, Laxmi was worried about the thing, that what if her baby gets scared after looking at her, after she was born? As a matter of fact, Laxmi has been getting those stares and comments whenever she goes out in public. But, the little Pihu only smiles happily whenever she sees her mother, after all none of the babies love their mothers for how they look, but only for their love and affection. So we wish this cute little family all the very best for their life ahead.
