A happy couple has given birth to twins, and they are accepted to be the heaviest ever conceived in Scotland with a joined weight of almost 17lbs.
Specialist Alanna Merrie, 33, and her spouse Paul, from the Newington range of Edinburgh, knew they were expecting twins yet not that they would break the records. The twins, Troy and Kaius, are presently thought to be the greatest in Scotland in the wake of tipping the scales at a consolidated weight of 16lb 13oz - about 7lbs heavier than most twins and the average weight of a six-month-old.
She said: 'I was attempting to see whether they are the heaviest. The records office are looking into this for us and ought to have the capacity to affirm it whichever way this week."
She said: ''The outputs said they were great sizes and the birthing assistants let me know they were developing admirably.''
Alanna and her spouse Paul were bounded for a twosome with a background marked by twins on both sides of the crew.
Child sweeps demonstrated the twins were a 'decent size', so Alanna didn't hazard purchasing garments before their introduction to the world. 'They don't generally fit into infant garments,' she said.
She said: 'They have very huge feet and enormous hands. 'I didn't purchase them anything in light of the fact that I would not like to hazard taking things back on the grounds that they didn't fit them.'
