18-year-old Arpit Gohil from India was born with his heart beating outside his ribcage. And, the organ can be seen beating just the underneath of a thin skin layer.
When he was born with this extremely rare condition ‘Ectopia Cordis’, doctors thought he won't live for long. But he proved his life as a “medical miracle”. This genetic disorder is also known as Pentalogy of Cantrell, which causes babies to born with vital organs outside of their bodies.
Talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Arpit told: "I don't have any problems, and have got used to living with the condition now. I can do everything like a normal person and don't have any trouble with my jobs on the farm, whether it be tilling the land, driving a tractor or riding a bike." Now he is thinking about surgery to fix this defect, and the idea will be good for such a hard labour worker.
Arpit's heart is located just above the stomach and is not protected by the chest wall. He is one of those 165 people who have this disorder. Even a slight fall may lead him to death. But the guy didn't take it as the hurdle in his life as he is busy in climbing trees, driving tractors, and showing off his beating heart to everyone who asks in Nadiad – his home village in Gujarat, India.
