Jenn Alter (Missouri) is a breast cancer survivor who is spreading the awareness of the disease by sharing her post-treatment photos. After the 35 days of the radiation treatment, she posted the photos on her Tumblr with a caption 'here's your f****** breast cancer awareness.'
She wrote: 'This was during my 35-day radiation treatment back in 2013.'
After the radiotherapy, her skin looked as if it's burnt. It's shocking!
She wrote: 'Breast cancer isn't sexy. It's not about saving the boobies. It's not about no bra day, which is really just an excuse for women to post sexy pics of their nipples pressing through their clothes.' She further added: 'It's scars, nausea, pain, bald heads, burnt skin, and broken hearts. If this doesn't make you "aware" then I don't know what will. Does it make you uncomfortable? It should.'
She explains about her mission like this: 'I made the post because I wanted people to know that breast cancer isn't about "saving the boobies." In fact, many women end up losing theirs to try to stay alive. 'This disease has been sexualized in order to supposedly raise awareness, and, because of that, society is able to ignore the brutal, ugly truth of breast cancer and breast cancer treatment. 'I wanted to show that ugly side.'
When she shared her photos and opinions, many people criticized her. And there came a lot of people to support her.
