When this woman heard of an unusual campaign, she decides to paint a dot on her hand and send it to a social worker. Next thing you know, the police arrests her husband! So what does the dot mean?
This campaign was started by a British woman who was a victim on domestic abuse and violence. Out of sheer desperation, she had started this project so that victims of domestic abuse could be identified silently.
The idea is to draw a small dot in the inside of the hand as a coded cry for help. This helps in identifying victims. Letting the police know of them can end up changing their lives, or at least, saving them.
Many are afraid to speak up of the domestic evil because they fear for their lives, and that of their children. And although the Black Dot Campaign helps woman communicate their misery in silence, it still is a step towards ending the silence!
"Thank you a thousand times! I didn't even have to draw a dot. But you have removed the horror out of our lives," writes a woman who escaped her worst nightmare. Many people are taking advantage of this simple and effective method to cry for help, and it's not just women it's helping, but even the men!
