Actor Sir Roger Moore who played James Bond in seven films dies in Switzerland at the age of 89. His family shared the news on social media.

Sir Roger Moore's family confirmed the news on Twitter stating that the actor has died after fighting "a short but brave battle with cancer."

The statement which has come from his children reads, "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."

Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian wrote in their statements "The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone."

The legendary actor has played James Bond in seven films and has worked in some other movies which include Spy Who Loved Me and Live and Let Die. Sir Roger Moore also very significantly contributed for television in the series like The Persuaders and The Saint.
