Even as He Serves His Jail Term, Lalu Prasad Yadav Found Guilty in Third Fodder Scam

A name that has been embroiled in various scams like IRCTC scam, Disappropriation case, and Fodder case. Even as he is serving his jail term for the second fodder scam, the punishment for which was announced on January 6, he has been found guilty in the third fodder scam.

On Wednesday, a special CBI court in Ranchi found Lalu Prasad Yadav and Jagannath Mishra guilty in a fodder scam case related to fraudulent withdrawal from Chaibasa Treasury in the early 90s. 

Fodder scam is a series of financial irregularities that was carried out in the 1980s and 1990s in undivided Bihar. Cattles were transported on scooters, oil tankers & trucks and the treasury never questioned the expenses.

In this case, Lalu, Jagannath Mishra and 50 others have been accused of using fake bills and vouchers of procuring livestock feed for withdrawing Rs 37 crore from the state treasury.
