Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Israel has been highly appreciated by the hosts, so much so that they decided to name a flower after his name. On July 4, 2017, a new, fast-growing Israeli flower Chrysanthemum was renamed as 'MODI' as a special gesture to mark the first visit of an Indian Premier to the Jewish nation.

This news hit the world. But it rocked India.

External affairs ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay tweeted, "A symbol of blooming in a special gesture, a new fast growing variety of chrysanthemum flower named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

The Indian government's announcement to this effect made many Indians go berserk on Twitter. While many appreciated Israel's gesture, others mocked at it in their own unique ways.

Have a look at how people responded.
