India is probably one of the only countries where even Valentine's Day is controversial. The time when young lovers are more scared of Bajrang Dal than their own parents.
Bajrang Dal is the youth wing of Vishva Hindu Parishad which believes in Hindutva and aims to save the Hindu identity of India by saving cows, stopping people from conversion and also beat up couples on Valentine's Day.
Bajrang Dal's vision?
A make-believe world of saffron clothing and oppressed females. Such sects make it look like we're moving away from development and not towards it.
Celebrating Matru Pitru Diwas on Valentine's Day or forcing boyfriends to marry their girlfriends. Claiming that we're moving towards Western countries and implying that it is somehow derogatory towards Hinduism. Attacking people, making them do sit-ups because they dared to be in 'love'? Isn't that a violation of the right to expression?
It really is.
They've been doing it for a couple of years now. Take a look at their campaigns in the past five years.
