The American Bisons were nearly sent to extinction due to mass slaughter and hunting, but their resurgence is thanks to the conservation efforts which began in the 20th century.

Something more beautiful than their protection happened in Illinois when a baby Bison was born nearly after two centuries. 

For some people, it was not a very big deal, but according to Bill Kleiman, the director of animal preservation group Illinois, the birth was historical.
