The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, 2017 is scheduled to be held on 9 November 2017. This year the voting procedure is going to witness something that we all must be proud of. A citizen named Shyam Saran Negi is 100, and he is all set to cast his votes this year. Why am I discussing him? It's because he's not only the oldest voter of Himachal Pradesh but also the first voter of independent India.

Shyam Ji is as excited to cast this vote as he was when he voted for the very first time in 1951. Since that year, he has been voting actively in every general election that has taken place.
