The movie was in controversy even before it was released as it was starring Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who 'tried' to portray himself as God and obviously badly failed at it. The movie was banned as the chief appeared in an attire similar to that of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru, and would hurt religious sentiments of the Sikh community. The lead later got his name dragged into another controversy in 2017 where he was accused of raping and has been serving in prison since then.
