After auditioning more than 400 young women for the youngest princess, finally directors Ron Clements and John Musker have chosen 14-year-old Auli’i Cravalho as the voice of Disney’s first Polynesian princess. "From baby time to now, I wanted to be a Disney princess and then I wanted to be a singer or an actress," the princess recalls.

3. A sketch from the movie.

"She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way."

5. Another beautiful still of Cravalho. She was stunned when she received the news.

5. Cravalho joins Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who voices a demigod named Maui, in the animated Disney flick, which follows 16-year-old Moana on a daring, sea-voyaging mission (with her pet pig Pua!) to fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest.
