'Dadi Ji' For Every 90s Kid, Bollywood Actress Shammi Aunty Passes Away at 89

After a prolonged illness, legendary Hindi film and TV actress Shammi Aunty (Nargis Rabadi) passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday (March 6, 2018). Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan shared this news on social media with his fans and followers stating "slowly-slowly they all go away.."The late Shammi Ji, who popularly played the role of  'Dadi Ji' in Hum Saath Saath Hain and other films of the 90s, was the ideal grandmother that every kid desired to have back then. She also worked TV shows like Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Dekh Bhai Dekh and Shriman Shrimati.

Shammi who co-acted with Farah Khan in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi also remembered Shammi Ji in her tweets and prayers.

She was actress Nargis Dutt's best friend.

Nargis' daughter, Priya Dutt tweeted about the loss that Bollywood has suffered after Sridevi. She also shared an old picture of Shammi Ji with her late mother, Nargis Dutt.

She was one of the most sought-after leading comic-actresses between 1949 and 1969.

Although her real name was Nargis Rabadi, she was lovingly called Shammi Aunty. She started her film career with Malhaar in a leading role and then later started doing more comic characters.
