From 10 Crore to 500 Crore, These Are India's Most Expensive Weddings 

The concept of 'big fat Indian wedding' has been around for quite some time, and it usually goes on for days. You might now even know the people who are attending your wedding but all of a sudden for one day they are treated with an extravagant experience. This is most prevalent in the case of people who throw lavish weddings.  Marriages are a celebration of the union of two souls, two humans and two families but some people take it way too seriously. They try to make it a point that their wedding becomes the most remembered wedding. So, on that note, here is a list of Indian weddings that will always stay in the limelight for defining how 'big' and 'fat' the Indian weddings can be. 

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra 

Shilpa and Raj's wedding celebrations began in Khandala at Shilpa's close friend's farmhouse. The couple hosted a lavish reception in Mumbai and Shilpa Shetty's wedding saree that has red Swarovski crystals embedded on it cost Rs 50 lakh. The couple had also cut a nine-tier wedding cake at their reception which weighed over 80 kg. The over-all wedding expense was estimated to be Rs 4 crore.

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan 

The Kapoor-Pataudi union was done in pure Maharaja style. Kareena looked her best when she donned the Manish Malhotra outfits and Saif, well, he already has royalty running through his veins. The couple's wedding has been reported to have cost Rs 10 crore. 

 Gaurav Assomull and Kajal Fabiani 

The CEO of Marigold Group, Gaurav Assomull married Kajal Fabiani in Monaco in 2011. Luxurious hotels were selected, and a hip-hop concert by Akon also took place. The expense of the wedding is estimated to be Rs 45 crore. 

Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala  

Mohit Marwah is the son of Boney, Anil and Sanjay Kapoor's sister Reena Kapoor. Recently, he tied the knot with three-day long festivities at Ras al-Khaimah in UAE. Mohit's wedding cost the family a great fortune as the entire Kapoor and Marwah family flew to Dubai. The guest list also included various eminent people including Bollywood stars. 

Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Alva 

Vivek Oberoi married Indian politician Jeevraj Alva's daughter Priyanka in 2010. Their mandap was adorned with 25,000 Swarovski crystals, which were imported from Italy and Czechoslovakia. Before even the wedding started the couple's wedding invitation that had Ganjifa artwork created a buzz. The wedding took place at the lavish Alva farmhouse, near Hebbal Lake, Bangalore. 

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Their wedding in Tuscany became the talk of the town as soon as the rumours started spreading like wildfire. Many sources claim that their wedding was a grand affair for both the families. The wedding took place at The Borgo Finocchieto in Tuscany and the stay of one week at the vintage resort can cost you up to Rs 1 crore per person. Considering that almost 44 people went to attend the function in Tuscany, the cost would have gone up to Rs 45 crore. Keeping other expense and most importantly the couple's outfits in mind, their wedding is estimated to have touched Rs 100 crore.   

Vikram Chatwal and Priya Sachdev 

Hotelier Vikram married Priya Sachdev who is an investment banker and model. The Chatwal family arranged private jets to pick up their guests from various parts of the world. The guest list included many celebrities and business tycoons names like Lakshmi Mittal and Prince Nicolas of Greece. The wedding expense was estimated to be Rs 100 crore.     

Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia 

Steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal's daughter Vanisha Mittal tied the knot with investment banker Amit Bhatia in 2004. The wedding took place in the Palace of Versailles. The wedding has been marked as the only private function which has taken place there. The entire expense of the wedding is estimated to be around Rs 240 crore, and many Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan performed at the wedding.    

Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria  

Congress Minister Kanwar Singh Tanwar’s son, Lalit’s wedding to Yogita Jaunapuria took place in 2011 in Delhi. The son of the minister received an expensive wedding gift which was a Bell 429 helicopter from his in-laws. The wedding expenses were estimated to be Rs 250 crore.     

The Sahara brothers 

The chief of Sahara Subrata Roy's sons, Sushanto and Seemanto married Richa and Chandini respectively.Their wedding took place at the Sahara Auditorium in Lucknow in 2004. The venue was decorated with mashals.
