There may be many private investigators & detectives you get to hear about through fictional stories, but when it comes to reality, there won’t be many you could name, especially in India. You must be aware of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, but did you know that even India had a Sherlock of its own? Not kidding, Mrs. Rajani Pandit is India's first female detective, who started working as a spy in 1983 when she herself fully didn't understand the meaning of spy.She is actually known as the first female detective in India and has been actively running her detective agency for the last 25+ years. The agency is named as Rajani Pandit Detective Services, which is also known as Rajani Investigation Bureau. A detective’s job is not easy, they have to go through various difficulties and challenges, every now and then. As fancy as it sounds, here are the lesser-known facts about the India’s Sherlock Rajani:
Rajani's biggest influence was her father, Shantaram Pandit, who was a criminal investigator with Mumbai Police. Ever since her childhood, she was inclined to criminal investigations and always asked about the cases her father was working on, also why people never got justice directly through the police. She wanted to make a change and knew she was fit for a role of detective, having the abilities such as concentration, focus, hard work, struggle, dedication, and curiosity.
Rajani specializes in pre/post marital cases involving disputes between married couples, etc. When couples start having suspicions about each other, or things start falling apart due to various reasons, Rajani takes up the case and digs deeper into their lives to bring the story to a conclusion.
Even though Rajani started on her own back in the days, she now has a team of over 20 people in Mahim Area, Mumbai. They together have solved over 75,000 cases! Rajani’s client circle has also changed with time, involving many businessmen, politicians, and film stars, etc. Her work has taken her to various places such as Dubai, London, and Sweden.
Rajani is known for her multiple disguises, just as a detective should always be under-cover. Rajani says when people see her in the office, and then see her outside, they fail to recognize her. She claims to have worked as a maid, a blind woman, a pregnant woman, a street vendor, etc.
Rajani Pandit has written two books, both based on her experiences namely: Faces Behind Faces & Mayajal. The first book won two awards, and the latter won six awards. She has won over 57 awards in total. What Rajani has achieved shall always be inspirational to many, especially because she has done incredibly well in a field dominated by males. We totally agree that becoming a detective/private investigator is not gender specific. Since you haven't heard of many female detectives, which is why we bring you, Detective Didi - a brand new TV Show which will soon telecast on Zee TV.
