LFC Transfers: Liverpool And Barcelona Linked Over A Move For This Midfielder

Liverpool and Barcelona have a love affair when it comes to the transfer market. First, Barcelona acquired the services of the Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano. Then they went after Luis Suarez who later on became a part of a deadly trio featuring Messi and Neymar. They've been chasing the signatures of Philippe Coutinho for almost 2 years. Now what will come as a relieving news for once, Liverpool and Barcelona are linked not over a Liverpool player but a Barcelona player. Liverpool are reportedly interested in the Barcelona outcast Rafinha. The 24-year-old has been with Barcelona throughout his career, coming from the academy and rising through the ranks to get occasional first team appearance. Rafinha, as talented as he is, cannot break into Liverpool first team which is reportedly a cause of concern for the player. It has been reported that Liverpool along with AS Roma are linked with a move for the midfielder. Scroll down to know more.

The Liverpool-Barcelona connection

The two biggest cities in Europe, host to the two biggest and most successful clubs in the world share a joint pedigree for being the common breeding ground for Europe's top talents. Suarez, Mascherano, Coutinho are a few names on that list and now we have a new name on our hands.

Liverpool interested in Rafinha

Liverpool are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Rafinha. Rafinha puts across table good footballing IQ, the passing and the game dictating techniques to match that. Obviously, he isn't a finished product but Klopp has made a name for himself for transforming players.

Could be potentially used in Coutinho deal

Liverpool has already slapped a £76 million price tag on the mercurial Brazilian which it seems that Barcelona will be reluctant to match but with the inclusion of Rafinha, the price tag could come down to a more feasible £50 million tag.

Couldn't shake off injury concerns

Over the years Rafinha has accumulated many injuries, the most notable being a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) recently. Although he has recovered from that, the minor niggles keep forcing him out for games which would come as a cause for concern for Klopp.

Two-way battle

According to Catalan radio, news broke out that Liverpool will be battling out with the Italian club AS Roma for Rafinha's signatures.

Here's the tweet confirming the same

The news arrives from a tweet posted by a Catalan Radio worker called Gerard Romero, who claims that Roma and Liverpool are battling it out for Rafinha. The tweet, written in Spanish, roughly translates to:'Rafinha has 2 interesting proposals to go out this summer. Roma and Liverpool are the best-located clubs today #mercato #GRnews'
