LFC Transfers: This Free Transfer Can Turn Liverpool's Fortunes

No, it's not Iker Casillas!

Liverpool Football Club's addition to the Champions League has brought new opportunities as well as new challenges for the charismatic manager Jurgen Klopp. To even match the flair and the quality of the top European teams, Liverpool would need to spend big this summer. It isn't a surprise that Anfield is all geared up towards the most historic summer when it comes to spending because simply it is the need of the hour.If they look at their Manchester counterparts, Manchester City, they are already up and running in the transfer market as they are closing in on Bernardo Silva. Liverpool, although have been linked with certain targets, barring Van Dijk, they aren't linked with many defenders and that's a cause for concern. But what if, Liverpool could sign one player who'll play in a position which historically has been their weak spot and he comes in for free? It would be a no brainer right? Want to know about this player? Scroll down to know more!

Liverpool's culpable defense

Liverpool's defense has been scrutinized and loathed the entire year. Liverpool were in contention for winning the Premier League but soon title winning ambitions turned into Champions League ambitions and even securing the fourth spot seemed an overachievement for this Liverpool defense. Over time, they continued to leak goals in not only away games but also home games making Klopp truly angry and agitated.

Lack of faith in Moreno

Historically, Liverpool has struggled in the left-back position and upon his arrival, Moreno definitely seemed the one to end all the woes but his stardust soon faded as he was at fault for many of the goals conceded and now it seems that Klopp is actively looking for his replacement.

James Milner the makeshift left back

As if it needs any proof as to why James Milner is the most versatile player in English football, one doesn't need to look far away from his performances at the left-back role for Liverpool. Milner has displayed his solidarity and experience while assisting in attack too. Although he seems fit for that role, Liverpool would need an upgrade over Milner this summer to compete amongst the European elites.

This player will solve their problems

It has been confirmed that Gael Clichy and Manchester City have parted company. The player over the years was terrific in the left back role and if anything, he's still got it. However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be successful in landing him.

Here's the official tweet confirming Clichy's departure

Champions League experience

The most important point is, Clichy during his exploits with Manchester City and Arsenal has accumulated Champions League experience which will come in handy for Liverpool. It remains to be seen that whether Jurgen Klopp will cash in on him or not.
