"One of the great things the women's movement has done is to make us realise that it's not our fault. We were violated, and it's not right," Jane said.

Jane Fonda also shared her views about Hollywood.

Shedding light on her experiences, Fonda said, "I've learned the only power I have in my career is the word no. I couldn't choose the jobs I got, but I could say no to jobs that weren't right for me.""It took me 60 yeas to learn to say no," Jane remarked."I took parts I wasn't right for, and I was taken advantage of. Then, I didn't know how to stand up for myself. Now, I would say - No."

Jane separated from producer Richard Perry earlier this year almost after eight years of togetherness.

"I grew up in the '50s, and it took me a long time to apply feminism to my life. The men in my life were incredible, but victims of a patriarchal belief system. I felt depreciated," Fonda said.

Jane has had a long, colourful Hollywood career.

And at one point of time in her life, she became equally famous for her political activism. People, who knew about her two Oscar victories, also got to know her political side. Jane even took part in anti-war protests in the 1970s.

Breaking the stereotypes.

"In the 60s and 70s, protests were mostly led by men, and there was a macho edge to it. Activism didn't feel as loving as it does now," Jane said. She said she's happy that activism transcends all walks of life, "with women not only taking part in protests but leading them."

It was evident that some questions related to parenting were asked.

Jane Fonda said, "I regret that I wasn’t a better parent. I didn’t know how to do it. But you can learn, so I studied how to be a parent."She said further, "It’s never too late. I am trying to make up for what I didn’t know before. When I die, I want my family to be around me. I want them to love me, and I have to earn that. I’m still working at it."

Jane never shied from placing her opinions in public.

In addition to acting and political activism, Jane has also published 27 health and fitness videos which sold over 17 million copies. You May Also Read: Spanish Protestors Cover Themselves In Blood To Fight For Animal RightsSubscribe
